Triton - Mermaid man

Triton is mythological Greek God,offspring of Poseidon and Amphitrite,the messenger of the sea.He was represented as half man,half fish with two tails.He had shells on his shouders,and horn in shape of a sea-shell with wich he commanded the sea waves to rise or to calm.Books often describe that he lived in golden palace in depths of sea with his parents.Often he was described riding horses or some sea monsters on the surface of the sea.He was carrying a trident like his father Poseidon and was foster parent to the goddess Athena.

Theseus - Son of Aethra and Poseidon

According to the myth,Theseus's mother was Aethra,but he had two father's,Poseidon and Aegeus.Aethra was Aegeus's bride and on their wedding night she slept with him before she decided to go to the coast and rest.There she had intercourse with Poseidon.So Thesus has two father's,one mortal and other immortal.

Most familiar myth about Theseus is when king Minos decided to send 7 Athenian boys and 7 Athenian Girls to go to the labyrinth created by Dedalus to be eaten by Minotaur,half bull - half man beast.Theseus volunteered to slay the beast.After he founded Minotaur in labyrith they had a fight,Theseus won by stabbing the beast's throat and cutting his head off.

Battle of Titans often called Titanomachy was war beteween Titans and Olympian Gods that lasted 10 years.During this battle youngest God Zeus freed Cyclopes and the Hecatoncheires from Tartarus where Cronos endungeond them.In return Cyclopes crafted for Zeus his Tunderbolts,for Hades his Helment and for Poseidon his trident.Mighty weapons that Cyclopes crafted were then used by Olympian Gods to defeat Titans.After the battle Titans were enprisoned in Tatarus (underworld).Atlas was doomed to carry sky on his back and Prometheus was on Olympic gods side so they let him remain with them.Three brothers divided the ruling,Zeus get to rule the heaven,Hades got to rule the Underworld and Poseidon was given Control over the seas.

Poseidon's Birth and Poseidon's Father Cronus

Coronus,Poseidon's father was jealous because his father Uranus had power to rule the universe.Uranus displeased Coronus mother Gaia,because he hid creatures she born in Tatarus.Gaia for revange crafted great stone sickle and gave it to bravest of her son's Coronus and placed him in ambush to attack Uranus.When Uranus and Gaia met,Coronus attacked his father Uranus castrating him and throwing his testicles into the sea.Testicals produced white foam from which Afrodita was born.The period Coronus ruled was called Golden Age.

Coronus learned form Gaia and Uranus about the prophecy which said that he will be removed from his thron like his father Uranus by his children.To stop the prophecy he devoured(eatean) all of his children after they were born,but Rhea(Coronus sister and mother of his childeren) gave birth to Zeus seceretly in Crete.Rhea tricked Coronus by giving him stone wrapperd in clothes that he swallowed instead of his son Zeus.When Zeus grew up,Gaia,his grandmother gave him poison which he used on his father Coronus.After Zeus poisoned Coronus,he disgorged his childeren,one of them was Poseidon.

Poseidon

This is blog dedicated to God of sea,storms and earthquakes,son of Cronus and brother of Zeus and Hades,Poseidon. Soúnio (Cape Sounion) is location of Poseidon's temple in South Africa.The etruscan's called him Nethuns and Romans called him Neptune as planet.Signs shows that Poseidon was worshiped around 2800. BC but he was described as Olympian God in later phase of Bronze Age.
